23rd February 2021 update: Multiples are now available on both the Apple and Android Smarkets mobile apps.

Smarkets have a great feature available on their website which makes it much easier for you to lay accas (otherwise known as multiples).

Their new Multiples feature allows you to create your own accumulators and lay them in one go, as one bet.

What does this mean for you?

Well, previously if you wanted to lay an acca you had two options:

Sequentially lay - where you lay separate games one after another that don't overlap

Use pre-made accas - Smarkets would post up a selection of ready made accas that you could lay in one go

Now you will no longer need to use these methods. Instead, you can choose individual games, add them to a slip, and lay them in one go as one bet. Completing Welcome Offers and Reload Offers requiring a multiple is now much easier!

In this guide, you will learn:

  • How to create an accumulator bet on Smarkets

  • How to place a multiple lay bet on Smarkets

Placing A Multiple On Smarkets

In the past you have always been able to place a pre-made acca on Smarkets using their special accumulator markets. The problem with this is that you are limited to what bets you can place as they are all pre-made for you.

Now, you can actually place your own acca by simply adding the teams you want to a bet slip.

There are a few rules to note before you try and place your bet however:

  • You can only have up to 10 selections in a multiple
  • You can not have more than one selection from the same single event/match (e.g. you can't have Man Utd to win as well as Over 2.5 goals - it's just one or the other)
  • You can only place bet if all selections have liquidity available
  • This is only available on the Smarkets website (not on the app)

Step By Step Instructions

Lets say you want to place a bet on two teams to win on a bookmaker and wish to lay this bet on Smarkets. Maybe there's a price boost on the two teams, or perhaps you're simply completing a welcome offer that requires accumulator types of bet.

You can easily lay a bet on the two teams by following this method!

Step 1 - Add your teams to a betslip

Make sure you are on Smarkets' website (not the app) and navigate to all of the matches you are looking for.

For each selection, click on the green BACK option to add them to your bet slip. DO NOT click the blue lay box - for the multiples option to work you must click the green back box.

Your bet slip will show like so.

Step 2 - Make It A Lay Bet

At the moment the multiples option is set to "buy", or back. You are basically creating an accumulator just like you would on a bookmaker site.

To change this to a lay bet, you need to click the SELL button circled below. This will then change colour to blue, and you will see the odds you are being offered in the price box.

Step 3 - Lay Your Bet

Now you can simply put the back odds (from the bookmaker bet you are placing) into the normal calculator, and put the odds that Smarkets are giving you as the lay odds.

Calculate your bet, place the back bet, and then press sell to confirm your lay bet and you are done!

You can check that your bet is correct by clicking on it to reveal more info in your bet slip once it's placed. It should look something like this.

At the top you will see Multiple x2, or however many selections you chose. Below, you will see a list of the teams that are playing. And perhaps the most important bit of information is that the circle at the top is blue, and it says Against Yes. If not, you may have made an error and back again by accident!

Tom's Tip - How To Choose Teams For A Welcome Offer

Whenever you are creating a multiple bet for an offer, it's always recommended that you stick to high profile leagues. There are a few reasons for this:

  • Avoiding Gubbing - Regular punters place bets on high profile events all of the time. It's uncommon to have an obscure team/league in your bet slips and so you should avoid this and try to stick to high profile leagues.
  • Liquidity - Lower leagues tend to have little liquidity and so, whilst your bet may get matched, you may be getting the completely wrong odds as there is poor liquidity in the market.

High profile leagues include:
🇬🇧 English Leagues (Premier League, Championship, League 1 & League 2)
🇩🇪 German Bundesliga
🇮🇹 Italian Serie A
🇪🇸 Spanish La Liga
🇫🇷 French Ligue 1

You should also make sure that you are meeting the requirements of the offer you are taking up. Some offers require each leg (each team) to be above certain odds and so if that is the case, make sure each team you have chosen are above the minimum odds on the bookmaker side.

Other offers may require the combined odds to be over a certain number. For example, pick 3 teams with combined odds over 4.0. For an offer like this you can usually see the combined odds in the bet slip on the bookmaker, however some sites may not display the odds. If that is the case, you can work out the combined odds by either multiplying all of the teams odds together, or by just typing 1 in the betslip (as if you are betting £1) and seeing what the returns are. If £1 returns £5.20 then you know the odds are 5.2. Simple!
